Wondering why there are so many construction projects downtown? The Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Planning and Development Services Department says downtown housing accounted for 25% of total revenue over the past 10 years and 71% of the 2022 value. Here are current projects making big investments:
Metropolitan Village, 310 Woodland Ave. | $60 million | The mixed-use project has 325 units currently under construction.
Choice Neighborhoods, 1135 E. 15th St.| $32 million | This development will bring 406 units for people and families with low and moderate incomes. Units built in Phase I will be available for lease in January 2024.
920 Brookstown Apartments (yet to be named) | $98 million | The luxury community will feature 345 units near Truist Ballpark with a six-story parking deck.
923 N. Liberty St. Apartments (yet to be named)| $104 million | The complex will have 275 units, with a five-story parking deck. Construction is expected to take about two years.
City Editor Cambridge and I went to Winston-Salem Downtown Partnership’s annual meeting yesterday and it was so inspiring to see how our community is growing and the many people who make it one of the best places to live in the nation.
