Winston-Salem has no shortage of masterful baristas, aromatic roasts, and foamy lattes. But if you’re having trouble deciding on a spot, gather some brews clues with our guide to some of the best coffee shops in the city.

  • A new dive and arcade bar is coming to Burke Street this Spring. Dive Bar will replace Eastern Standard. We’ll keep you updated on the opening date.

  • Old Salem Museums & Gardens and the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts (MESDA) reopen today, Feb. 7. Both were closed in January for training and renovations. Visitors can explore the museums Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Explore exhibitions about religion in the Deep South

For the first time, the North Carolina Museum of Art (in Raleigh, hey RALtoday) and the North Carolina Museum of Art, Winston-Salem (formerly SECCA) will bring together a shared exhibit to examine the blending of spiritual practices and innovations in Southern culture.

From “Alpha to Creation: Religion in the Deep South” will reflect racial, political, and economic structures, and rituals that trace as far back as precontact Indigenous societies.

Expect to see photography, sculpture, and video elements that will explore the interconnected spiritual practices in the South.

The exhibit will be on display Friday, Feb. 16 through Sunday, May 26. Admission is free during opening hours. The opening reception will take place at the North Carolina Museum of Art, Winston-Salem (750 Marguerite Dr.) Thursday, Feb. 15 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
