Fair food faves

The Carolina Classic Fair may be over, but it’s heading to Raleigh. If you’re in for more fair fun, our fellow City Editor Allie with RALtoday gives us a rundown on what new food items to try at the NC State Fair this year. The fair opens today, Thursday, Oct. 17, here’s what we have our eyes on.

The over-the-top (but still good)

These items are both worth the picture and the price.
  • Meme Mia, Ezzell’s Somethin’ Good: This deep-fried spaghetti sandwich topped with coleslaw seriously surprised us. The deep-fried element provided a good crunch without overpowering any of the fun flavors.
  • Hot Cheeto-crusted NC Crab & Shrimp Bomb, Waypoint Oyster Bar: RALtoday City Editor Allie here — I’m a big seafood fan and this was my favorite dish. Stuffed with huge pieces of local crab + shrimp, the Hot Cheetos gave it a slight spice and a fun texture.

The Buy

This Tommy Hilfiger men’s faux leather jacket — it’s a warm layering option perfect for date nights + evening get togethers during the changing seasons.

The Wrap

Today’s edition by: Cambridge

I’m loving these highs in the mid-60s, which mean peak leaf color is around the corner. It also means Daylight Saving Time is close to coming to an end. This year we’ll “fall back” on Sunday, Nov. 3.
