Calling all makers, art appreciators, and curators of curious things — we’ve found a picture-perfect way to enjoy art in Winston-Salem.
Free Little Art Galleries, aka FLAGs, are small boxes stationed around the country where locals can donate, take, or simply enjoy tiny art. They’re like Free Little Libraries, except dedicated to creativity.
Here are a few ways you can enjoy FLAGs in our community.

Maker Movement | 6-6:45 p.m. | Mixxer Community Makerspace | Free, RSVP | This class ideal for crafters will explore stretches, exercises, and ergonomics to help relieve strain from fine motor work.

Winston-Salem company Inmar Intelligence is poised to reach $1 billion in revenue this year. CEO Spence Baird said he plans to invest across the board and expand the team in Winston-Salem. It’s no wonder the Twin City is a national leader in Life Science Growth. (Triad Business Journal)
Community
Help the city identify barriers to homebuying and help create more diverse neighborhoods with the Mapping Prejudice in Forsyth County project. The next community mapping session will take place Tuesday, Feb.15 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Center for Design Innovation. (WFDD)
Cause
The Community Coat Closet is urgently seeking men’s and women’s coats in sizes XL or above. Donations can be dropped off at Sherwood Forest United Methodist Church, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, or The Hub at Augsburg Community Center on Broad Street.
Try This
Bring a book to The Dutch Light next Wednesday, Feb. 5 for a book exchange taking place from 7 to 9 p.m. After swapping, mingle with fellow book lovers and enjoy a drink.
Number
$64,000. That’s how much the Truliant Foundation raised during its Donate Dollars matching funds campaign supporting Hurricane Helene relief. The funds will go toward supporting critical needs for essential cold-weather items like coats, blankets, and generators.
Award
This year’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Young Dreamers Awards go to Angelica Regalado-Cieza and James Singletary. The award honors local young adults who have made a difference in creating a community of inclusivity.
Arts
UNCSCA’s School of Drama recently received a $1 million gift from Broadway director Joe Mantello. The money will go toward the “Joe Mantello Endowed Scholarship in Drama” + the “Joe Mantello Creative Catalyst Endowed Fund for Drama” to support student-driven productions.
