Forsyth Creek Week is less than two weeks away. The week-long event celebrates natural landscapes through hands-on educational activities, interactive workshops, clean-up efforts, and guest speakers sharing about efforts to preserve our local aquatic systems. Here’s what to expect Saturday, March 22-Sunday, March 30. All activities are free to attend.
St. Patrick’s Day Cookie Decorating Class | 6:30-8:30 p.m. | Wise Man Brewing | $30 | No luck needed for this cookie decorating class — the instructor will provide supplies and guidance to help you create some delicious masterpieces.

Rooted in Race: A Community Lunch and Learn | 12:30-1:30 p.m. | Biotech Place Auditorium | Free | Guest speaker Anita Justice will share the deep historical narratives of race and community efforts toward preservation, followed by a Q+A.

Down The Rabbit Hole: Tea Time with Alice | 6 p.m. | Robert Hall | $140 | Spend a whimsical evening with delightful bites and step into the enchanting venue — don’t forget to wear your most Wonderland-worthy attire.
Saturday, March 15
Lucky’s St. Patrick’s Day Bar Crawl | 4-11:59 p.m. | Bar La Chingada | $14 | Enjoy exclusive drink specials, festive giveaways, and tunes while hopping around locals’ favorite bar stops in groups.
Prepare to see more pickleball courts around the Twin City. Old Town Neighborhood Center is undergoing construction repairs for eight new courts. Tennis courts at Little Creek Community Center will also be converted starting Monday, March 17 with a projected completion date of Thursday, May 1.

The city of Winston-Salem will award $5,000 each to two emerging small business owners to help with start-up costs. Attend the in-person meeting at the Bryce A. Stuart Municipal Building from 6 to 7 p.m. to learn more. Applications are due by Monday, April 14.

NCDOT is accepting feedback on road improvement projects like the Winston-Salem Northern Beltway within the state. Share your take on what roads should be prioritized to ease traffic flow by completing the 2026-2035 STIP online survey by Friday, April. 4.

Two trailblazers are coming to the Twin City this spring. Award-winning “60 Minutes” journalist Scott Pelley will deliver Wake Forest University’s commencement address Monday, May 19 and UNCSA alumnus and Academy Award-winner Paul Tazewell will deliver a speech at his alma mater’s commencement on Saturday, May 17.

Uh Oh I clearly didn’t get enough sleep yesterday due to daylight time savings. We lost an hour of sleep but there’s more time to play in our city. I’m personally excited that the city is converting some of its tennis courts into pickleball courts. Though I grew up playing tennis, I’m looking forward to improving my picklin’ skills this summer.
