Time to bust out the hiking boots. Check out some of our favorite seasonal hikes in the Triad for fresh air and beautiful views.

Stuart & Emma Thomas Memorial Trail, 1001 Reynolda Rd.

  • Length: 1.5 miles out-and-back

Enjoy views of the Winston-Salem skyline + keep an eye out for birds, cows, and goats. If you’d like to extend your hike, move over to one of the connecting loops.

Salem Lake Trail, 815 Salem Lake Rd.

  • Length: 7-mile loop
  • Wheelchair accessible: Portions; The trail surface is 8-ft wide and features pavement and dirt.
  • Pet-friendly: Yes, with leash
You’ll likely run into plenty of folks exercising on this trail with beautiful views of the lake — it’s popular among walkers, runners, and bikers.

Stone Mountain Loop Trail, 3042 Frank Pkwy., Roaring Gap

  • Length: 4.5-mile loop
  • Wheelchair accessible: No
  • Pet-friendly: Yes, with leash
Located ~60 minutes outside of downtown Winston-Salem, this hike will give you a breathtaking view of the high country landscape with beautiful waterfalls and winding creeks.

Open

Winston-Salem’s newest coffee shop, Black Coffee & Cuisine, is now open inside the Generations Center. Stop by Tuesday-Thursday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for coffee, breakfast, and lunch items. Check out more local coffee shops.

Traffic

In case you missed it, Deacon Boulevard between University Parkway and Piccolo Lane will be closed through August due to construction on The Grounds development. During this time, workers will be reconfiguring Deacon Boulevard to make it more pedestrian-friendly. (WXII 12 News)

West Salem Art Hotel will welcome its newest art exhibition, “Fables for the People: Artwork Inspired by the Lyrics of REM,” tomorrow. Head to the opening event from 5 to 9 p.m. to check out the exhibition’s artwork from 12+ artists, listen to live music, and grab food from Kuya Bear Food truck.
