News Notes

Outdoors

Keep your eyes to the sky tomorrow to catch a glimpse of the “Pink Moon” — but no, it won’t be a different color. April’s full moon has the rosy nickname because the month is associated with spring flowers. See what’s in bloom by strolling through one of the Twin City’s parks.

Ranked

North Carolina ranked No. 13 on WalletHub’s list of best states for working from home. If you’re a remote-working Winstonian who’s seeking a little change in scenery, check out these local coffee shops with plenty of outlets and internet connection.

Eat

McDonald’s McDouble meal, Taco Bell’s Luxe Box, and Wendy’s Biggie Bag. Those are three budget-friendly meals from fast food chains named in Parade’s Top 10. If you’d rather eat local without breaking the bank, check out meals under $10 in the Twin City.

State

Wondering where the most beautiful place in Florida is? According to Travel and Leisure, it’s Everglades National Park. Don’t get us wrong, we love the park — but have they ever seen “The Quarry” or Reynolda Gardens?

Holiday

Chag sameach. Passover (or Pesach) begins at sundown tomorrow and goes through Sunday, April 20. Temple Emanuel will host a Passover Festival Service Sunday, April 13 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Answered

Earlier this week, we asked which of the following is NOT a perk Forsyth County library card offers — here’s what you said:

  • A whopping 75% of you selected “Free access to the North Carolina Zoo”
  • 12% of you chose “Museum passes to Kaleideum and Reynolda House”
  • and 13% of you said “Small business workshops + cooking classes and wellness events”
Guess what? It’s safe to say the majority of WStoday readers are as studious as they come. Well done!
