Friday, Dec. 5-Sunday, Dec. 7
Start with the beloved holiday tradition “The Nutcracker” performed by UNCSA students throughout the weekend. Due to renovations at the Stevens Center downtown, the school has been performing at the Tanger Center in Greensboro for two consecutive years, so leave room for the ~45-minute drive. Tickets start at $49.
Saturday, Dec. 6
Celebrate Christmas at Bethabara between 1:30 and 4:30 p.m. and explore 18th and 19th-century Christmas traditions. Bring the kids to make seasonal crafts + let the sound of festive music inspire you.
End the night at the WS Ambassadors Holiday Parade, which starts at 4:45 p.m. between 4th and Poplar streets downtown. Stroll along the streets full of festive music, floats, and magical performances. Plus, stay after for the tree lighting ceremony.
Calling all LEGO enthusiasts. Join Bricks & Minifigs’ grand opening celebration on Saturday, Dec. 6. Find minifigures, sets, bricks, and accessories at 3272 Silas Creek Pwky., starting at 11 a.m.

Traffic
If you’re heading to the holiday parade this weekend, watch out for road closures. Street parking downtown is free, but some roads will be blocked off for the marchers and festivities. Parking decks have plenty of spots, but they come with a fee.

Look up. The December supermoon will appear today, Dec. 4 at 6:14 p.m., according to the Almanac. This occurs when the moon’s orbit gets closer to Earth, making the moon appear brighter than usual. This will be your last chance to see the cold moon before the year ends.
Development
A new retail development in Kernersville is shaping up. Welden Village just secured a Food Lion on-site, in addition to Cone Health and Welden Dentistry. The 385-acre planned community is located near NC Highway 66 and Old Salem Road. Developers say their goal is to create a “walkable community where families can meet their daily needs.” (Triad Business Journal)
