And if you’re feeling nostalgic about 2016, here’s what is no longer a thing of the past — Phuzz Phest. The popular music festival is coming back to the Twin City this spring after a 10-year hiatus.
Founder and Director Philip Pledger told WFDD the vision will stay the same: “putting the best of the city on display.” Discover new talents and rock out to various music genres.
The event began in 2011 and went on a pause due to funding and changes in local venues. Currently, the location is undisclosed, but we’ll keep you updated on the latest. The event is slotted to unfold from Thursday, April 9, to Sunday, April 11.
Istanbul Gyro & Burger is now open at the former Mayberry’s location downtown. Located on Fourth and Cherry streets, the spot serves Turkish-flavored wraps, burgers, and desserts.
Coming Soon
The Center for Thriving Children (1918 Bethabara Rd.) is set to open Monday, March 2. Enrollment for the childcare center is currently open. Registered children will interact with Brookridge’s senior residents, creating intergenerational experiences and connections.
Announced
Bookmarks 14th Annual Movable Feast, scheduled to take place this weekend, is postponed due to possible snow impacting the area, with tentative plans to host the event on Saturday, March 14–Sunday, March 15. We’ll keep you posted as soon as details are finalized.

Hear from Holocaust survivor Dr. Alexander “Lex” Silbiger on Holocaust Remembrance Day, Tuesday, Jan. 27. Dr. Silbiger will share his personal story of survival, resilience, and his journey seeking asylum in North Carolina from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Forsyth Tech’s Main Campus (Robert L. Strickland Center). Turn a new leaf with Forsyth County Urban Farm School’s 12-week intensive class for those interested in growing and selling produce. The course runs between March and June, learning practical tools when it comes to farming. Submit your application by Monday, Feb. 2.
