Free mulch is back. Save the date for the city’s annual free leaf mulch giveaway starting on Friday, April 3. Forsyth County homeowners can pick up mulch from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Forum 52 Yard Waste Facility in Rural Hall, until supplies last.

MUSE Winston-Salem will host two traveling exhibits in celebration of America’s 250th birthday. The eight-panel exhibit explores the history of immigration, integration, emancipation, and fundamental rights in NC. The collection will be on display Wednesday, March 18, through Sunday, March 30, at MUSE’s newly renovated building on South Liberty Street.

Winston-Salem State University associate professor of religious studies Eric Gréaux received a 2026 Award for Excellence in Teaching, one of the highest teaching honors given by the University of North Carolina System Board of Governors. He will receive a commemorative bronze medallion. Go Rams.
History
The USS Monitor was the first ironclad warship deployed by the US Navy in the Civil War, and its sunken remains are still well-preserved off the coast of NC.
