Tuesday, March 3 — is primary election day in North Carolina. Voters will head to the polls to nominate party candidates for the general election in November. Here are five reminders before you head to the polls:
Polls open at 6:30 a.m. and will close at 7:30 p.m. As long as you’re in line at 7:30 p.m., you’ll be able to cast your ballot.
You cannot change your party affiliation on primary election day. Check your sample ballot to see which races you’ll vote in.
You’ll vote at your designated polling place. Check your registration to find where to vote.
A new vibrant space for creatives is opening soon. The Observatory will showcase an immersive experience, featuring local artists in the intimate cocktail lounge. The spot will open on North Trade Street in the former Euphoria nightclub location.
Family
Childcare assistance is now available for families who are employed, enrolled in school, experiencing a crisis, or who have children with developmental delays. Eligible families will receive a Forsyth County voucher to get childcare services. Pick up the application packet at 741 N. Highland Ave. or submit the request by email.
Health
Forsyth County Public Library has expanded access to self-monitoring blood pressure stations at eight of its branches. Visitors will have access to a blood pressure monitor, printed instructions, and guidance to help them understand their readings. The devices are free to use during library operating hours.
Wellness
Firsthand Climbing is now hosting yoga classes four days a week. Sessions will take place Monday and Tuesdays at 6 p.m., Thursdays at 8 a.m., and Sundays at 12 p.m. Classes are free for members and cost $10 for non-members.
State
North Carolina universities are now allowed to raise tuition rates for the first time since 2017, after the UNC Board of Governors lifted the decade-long tuition-freeze. The increase will generate more than $44 million for the state’s public universities. See the breakdown. (WFDD)
Outdoors
Passionate about the environment? Forsyth Creek Week is looking for volunteers to help with cleanups and planting throughout the city. The family-friendly event will take place Saturday, March 21-Sunday, March 29.

Reynolda House will reopen on Tuesday, March 10, with Layered Looking: Making Sense of Art. Stop by to see the playful new exhibition, get hands-on in the PlayLab, and try guided activities during Open Studio Saturdays.*
Congratulations to the 2026 CIAA Tournament Champions. The Winston-Salem State University Women’s Basketball team took home the big title after their win in Baltimore this past weekend — a groundbreaking moment for the Rams. The team defeated Fayetteville State University 60-43. Go Rams.
