Hometown greatness

It’s March Madness, and what better way to celebrate than by honoring basketball legends who got their start in the Twin Cities.

Frank Spencer | He was 20 years old when he created the Northwest North Carolina Basketball Tournament in 1926. Its popularity and Spencer’s advocacy helped spur the construction of many high school gymnasiums across North Carolina.

Chris Paul | The nine-time NBA All-Star was selected No. 4 pick in the 2004 NBA Draft from Wake Forest University. The Winstonian announced his retirement from the NBA earlier this year and continues to be greatly involved within the community.

Josh Howard | Drafted into the NBA in 2003 and named an NBA All-Star in 2007. He has coached the Carolina University men’s basketball team since 2016.

Harry Giles III | The Winstonian was drafted by the NBA in 2017 after one season at Duke University. He’s also a three-time gold medalist with USA Basketball.
The greatness continues

Want an easy way to show a little love for families going through a tough time? Grab this t-shirt.

During Sport A Shirt, Share A Night, every Ronald McDonald House Piedmont Triad®️ t-shirt purchased helps cover the cost of a family’s overnight stay, giving parents a place to rest while staying close to their child receiving medical care.

This year’s campaign is especially meaningful. In memory of their daughter, Ansley, the Robison family is helping lead the effort in her honor, so other families never have to face a child’s medical journey alone.

On Wear Day, happening Friday, March 27, Winstonians are invited to wear their cheerful kelly-green shirts and share photos on social media to raise awareness + encouragement for the families staying at the House.

Want to participate? Simply:
  • Purchase a shirt.
  • Wear it on March 27.
  • Share a photo on social media using #SAS2026 or tag @rmhcpt.
One shirt may seem simple, but it helps provide a night of comfort, care, and togetherness for a family who truly needs it.
