Make your mark at Kernersville’s 3rd Annual Community Day tomorrow, Saturday, April 11, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Bring an item to leave in the time capsule that’ll be sealed and opened in 50 years. That’s in 2076 — can you believe it? The event will celebrate Körner’s Folly’s 146th birthday, Kernersville’s 155 years of history, and America’s 250th birthday.
The object must be no larger than 4 inches x 4 inches x 1 inch and weigh no more than 8 ounces. Think — a piece of paper, a mini photo frame, or a small piece of art. Each item should include an answer to one of these prompts in a written reflection (250 words max). Some written reflections may be digitally archived if there’s no space left in the time capsule.
Admission is free for Kernersville residents. Tickets for non-residents cost $14 plus tax.

If I could write some words of wisdom to be open 50 years later, my message would be this:
“Always be curious. Just because it has been done for a long time doesn’t mean it’s right. Bend the rule whenever possible, push the boundaries, because on the other side of the unknown is the excitement of what is to come. Live on the skinny branches because that’s where the growth comes. Oh, and do we have flying cars yet? Road traffic is not great down here.”
What would you live in the time capsule? Hit reply and let me know.
