News Notes

Mansion Monday

Three words, eight letters. Say it and I’m yours: big ol’ tub. That’s pretty much all it takes for me to fall in love with a home, it’s certainly one of the features that caught my attention in this modern house on the market in WS. Check out what else caught my eye.

Plan Ahead

Civic

Reynolds American agreed to pay the City of Winston-Salem $1 million for a downtown parking deck near its headquarters. If the deal is approved, around $670,000 will go to the city + the remainder will go to Forsyth County — the deal would also save the city $300,000 annually. (Winston-Salem Journal)

42,000. That’s how many pounds of potatoes a local church is giving away. In these photos from the Winston-Salem Journal, locals fill bags with the free potatoes to take to local nonprofits and people in need.

Read

Plot twist: It’s National Library Week. If your library card is collecting dust, consider this your reminder to put it back into circulation. Don’t have one yet? You can start the application process online.

Number

60 minutes. That’s how much daylight Winston-Salem will gain throughout April, ushering in longer, sun-soaked evenings. Translation: It’s officially patio season, so make plans to enjoy dinner al fresco at one of these local restaurants.
