Race to the finish with your pup at the 8th annual Mutt Strut

The fundraiser is an opportunity for pet lovers to get active.

Shaded pavement with people walking dogs.

There’s plenty to see — and sniff — along the way.

One weekend walk is going to the dogs. Forsyth Humane Society’s 8th annual Mutt Strut is happening Saturday, April 27 at 9 a.m. in Winston-Salem.

Animal lovers and their furry family members can walk or run the Salem Creek Greenway during a one-mile fun run ($35) or a timed 5k race ($45). The route starts at Marketplace Mall and is partially shaded. Once the race is over, stick around for a vendor market where you can shop from local pet-friendly businesses.

Here are a few additional things you need to know about this dog-friendly event:

  • Be sure to ask permission before you pet the pooches
  • Retractable leashes are not allowed
  • Expect to see pups strutting their stuff in outfits and costumes

You do need to sign up to participate. Proceeds benefit Forsyth Humane Society’s work to keep animals safe, healthy, and housed.
