Memorial Day is Monday, May 26. The US holiday honors the men and women who gave their lives while defending our country. Here are three ways you can honor servicemembers and their sacrifice.
Carolina Field of Honor
9652 W. Market St., Kernersville
Rain or shine, the ceremony will start at 11 a.m. The Navy band will play patriotic music, followed by a presentation of colors, wreath laying, and a special speaker. Pro tip: Bring a chair.
LJVM Coliseum
2825 University Pkwy., Winston-Salem
While there’s no ceremony at this memorial ground, you could pay tribute on your own to fallen heroes at the location where ~500 permanent markers reside on the East and West Promenades outside the coliseum.
Shallowford Square
6555 Shallowford Rd., Lewisville
The Embers and Craig Woolard will perform live music during the 10th Annual Military Appreciation Concert from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The American Legion Post 522 will present the colors and Pledge of Allegiance. There’ll be food on site.
