Eat. Drink. Restaurant Week starts today, Oct. 23 and runs through Sunday, Oct. 29. You can try special menu items and specialty cocktails from more than 60 Triad restaurants, breweries, and bars. More than half are in and around Winston-Salem, which means you don’t have to travel far for a good meal.
Some businesses will be showcasing special items you’ll only be able to taste during the week-long event. Others will be featuring customer favorites that are staples on the menu. Many of the recipes will incorporate Duke’s mayo as a nod to the event’s sponsor. Here are a few drinks + dishes that have us drooling:
Eastern Standard, 1131 Burke St.| Apple cider mule made with vodka, ginger beer, lime juice, apple cider, fresh apples and cinnamon
Spring House Restaurant, Kitchen and Bar, 450 N. Spring St. | Three-course chef’s tasting with buttermilk fried chicken atop a pimento cheese waffle with sawmill gravy and hot honey drizzle — served with lobster bisque and a house salad

The city was filled with alumni from Wake Forest University and Winston-Salem State University this past weekend — which makes me excited to attend my own alma mater’s festivities. My siblings and I are all part of the Wolfpack, and we’ll be cheering on NC State together in Raleigh this Saturday.
