Whether you frequent Charlotte, NC often or only know it from the latest season of “Love is Blind,” the Queen City is blooming with springtime fun.
Here are five can’t-miss activities and events happening this season (that are absolutely worth the trip):
🎶 A brand-new music festival
Get ready to rock, because the first-ever Lovin’ Life Music Fest is happening Friday, May 3-Sunday, May 5 in Uptown’s First Ward.
Post Malone, Stevie Nicks, Noah Kahan, Maggie Rogers + The Chainsmokers are headlining the inaugural multi-genre festival. The full lineup features 40+ artists on three stages, including Charlotte native DaBaby and a full set from The Avett Brothers.
A healthy job market continues to drive young business professionals to the Charlotte region.

🏙️ Rooftop dining downtown
The Queen City has an abundance of unique rooftop bars and restaurants. It’s hard to choose a favorite, but here are a couple good callouts: The Charlotte Beer Garden has one of the largest selections of draft beer available in one restaurant + Graham Street Pub & Patio is conveniently located near Bank of America Stadium and Truist Field.
Wherever you end up, your food and drinks are almost guaranteed to be paired with views of Charlotte’s stunning skyline.
🏎️ A huge NASCAR race
Prepare for full-throttle fun this Memorial Day weekend, because the 65th running of the historic Coca-Cola 600 is on Sunday, May 26. The NASCAR races begin at 6 p.m. at the Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Pro tip: Arrive early for driver appearances + a Matchbox Twenty concert.

Should Winston-Salem change the Truist Stadium leasing agreement once Diamond Baseball Holdings purchases the Winston-Salem Dash? If the City Council Finance Committee recommends approval during its meeting tomorrow, April 9, City Council will hold a public hearing on Monday, April 15 at 6 p.m.
Opening
Register to attend the grand opening of Dive Bar on Wednesday, April 17 at 5 p.m. The new bar at 1131 Burke St. will feature arcade games for patrons 21 and older.
Biz
Novant Health, Collins Aerospace Interiors, and Reynolds American, Inc. are Winston-Salem based businesses that made Newsweek and Plant-A Insights Group’s 2024 list of America’s Greatest Workplaces for Diversity. Alex Lee, the parent company of Lowes Foods, also earned a spot on the annual list. (Triad Business Journal)
Traffic
Construction on a portion of Polo Road on the north side near Wake Forest University should start in May or June. The work includes adding a sidewalk and a raised median, updating traffic signals and signage, and repaving — it is expected to take about nine months to complete. (Winston-Salem Journal)
Health
Doctors at Novant Health are performing a new treatment for patients with atrial fibrillation. Pulsed Field Ablation uses pulsed electrical fields sent through a catheter to treat misfiring cardiac tissue in the heart.
State
Duke Energy will begin randomly selecting participants in its PowerPair pilot program on May 10. Residential customers who choose to install a home solar plus battery system could receive up to $9,000 as a one-time incentive.

Winstonians keep getting better with age. Starting today, April 8, you can nominate an older adult for a 7 over Seventy award.
Senior Services, Inc. hosts the annual celebration. It honors local adults age 70 and older who make Forsyth County better in at least one of the following ways:
Trailblazing accomplishments
Making a difference in the lives of others
Inspirational leadership and impact
Acts of generosity
Mentorship, either professionally or in the community
Innovative contributions in business, community, or public policy
Does someone you know come to mind? Submit a nomination form online or in person at Senior Services (2895 Shorefair Dr. NW). Be as thorough as you can when listing accomplishments, including providing detail and context. (Watch this video for more pointers). Nominations will be accepted until 12 a.m. on Friday, May 10.
A selection committee will choose the 2024 honorees. They will receive their award during a luncheon in August.
