Benton Convention Center aka “The Benton” is a hub for activities in the Twin City. Located downtown, it hosts everything from intimate weddings to events during the International Black Theatre Festival.

Navigating 150,000 sqft of meeting space can be daunting, but we’ve got you covered. Here’s how to get around like a pro.

Where to park

The 6th and Cherry parking deck the best bang for your buck at $9 a day. The Cherry Marshall Deck will cost you $20 a day, but is closer to the Marriott and Embassy Suites.

Getting to The Benton

Head to the third floor of the 6th and Cherry deck. A skywalk over Cherry Street will take you directly into The Benton’s main level. From the Cherry Marshall Deck, you can walk to the entrance across 5th Street, or take the elevator underneath Embassy Suites to Benton South.

The skywalk over Cherry Street also gives you another view of the city.

The Benton’s main entrance at 301 W. 5th St. is mostly windows so you can see what’s happening inside. If you’re walking from the downtown Arts District, there’s also an entrance on Cherry Street.

The layout

Once you’re inside the north part of The Benton, escalators will take you between two levels. The third floor is office space so you only have to worry about getting around the main level and the lower level.

The main level boasts an outdoor terrace and a renovated ballroom. You’ll look for the room of your event in specific spaces, like “Winston 1" or “Salem 3.”

The tunnel to Benton South goes underneath 5th Street.

The lower level has meeting space. It’s also how you access the underground tunnel leading to Benton South, where you’ll find more meeting rooms and seven pieces of permanent art by Winston-Salem artists.

Finding your way

Still need help getting around? Take a virtual tour before you visit to familiarize yourself with the space. Once you arrive, ask for help from a Visit Winston-Salem representative at the front entrance.
