Deli sandwich spots

TJ’s Deli and Grill, 5017 Country Club Rd.
This popular spot has a large selection of chicken sandwiches, wraps, burgers, and hot dogs, most of which are under $10 and are served with a side. Opt for a salad or a light plate like the grilled chicken breast teriyaki if you’re saving room for homemade ice cream. Pro tip: We recommend calling in your order and carrying out if you’re crunched for time.

Learn the Samba this September

Immerse yourself in Brazilian music and culture this September

Brazilian Festa is bringing Brazilian dance, history, culture, and food to Winston-Salem in September.

Local nonprofits and businesses are partnering with Artistic Director Suzy McCalley to produce interactive experiences for the public every Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m. Here’s a look at the lineup:
  • Sept. 7: Hear a live Samba band and take a dance class at Authoring Action. Children aged 6-12 can make their own percussive instruments.
  • Sept. 14: Make your own Carnival headdress and practice your Samba moves at Delta Arts Center.
  • Sept. 21: Get your face painted and hear a live Samba band at the Winston-Salem Urban League.
  • Sept. 28: It’s your last chance to take a Samba dance class or practice to a live band. Face painting will also be available at the Hispanic League.
Brazilian food and drinks will be sold at events, which are free to attend but registration is encouraged.
