It’s fall, y’all. If you’re looking for a place to sport your flannel shirt, sip all things pumpkin and cinnamon, and see the changes the season brings, give these six spots a try.
Watch the world go by in Old Salem at Lot 63
Grab a coffee, beer, or a piece of sugar cake from the coffee house and taproom, and ponder what life was like for early Moravians. On warmer days, the downstairs patio is the perfect place to relax and take in the feel of fall.
Enjoy dinner by the fireplace at River Birch Lodge
A meal near the restaurant’s main wood-burning fireplace is perfect for chilly fall evenings, or you can enjoy a similar ambience in the bar. The spot is filled with cabin decor and will remind you of a weekend in the mountains.
Salem Lake

Go leaf peeping around Salem Lake
Surrounded by trees, the area is perfect for spotting the tell-tale signs of fall. Bundle up for a walk on the 7-mile trail surrounding the lake, then pack a picnic to enjoy a meal outdoors.
Find your next favorite read at The Bookhouse
Browse the shelves at the bookstore in Reynolda Village for your next literary adventure. Grab a cup of coffee or glass of wine and stay a while — you’ll want to keep up with the bookstore’s events like book launches + live music.
Enjoy the crisp air on the Bethabara Greenway
Lace up your shoes and go for a stroll on the 2.7-mile path. If you’re looking for a reason to extend your journey, print off a scavenger hunt before you go and make a detour to Historic Bethabara Park to find gems within the early Moravian settlement.

This suede leather car coat — it’s the perfect fall transition piece as we head into the new season.
I worked with dogwood eatables to customize a charcuterie board for an event this past weekend and I can’t say enough about how well it turned out. If you’re looking for a way to feed a crowd with locally sourced meats, cheeses, and spreads, I recommend connecting with Matt and Ashley.
