If you’re just getting started
Synergy, 905 S. Broad St., Unit 113 The gym offers 45- or 60-minute vinyasa yoga classes to all levels of practitioners, plus kids yoga on Tuesdays at 4 p.m. Each instructor brings a unique style and playlist. Purchase a drop-in pass in advance for $20 before committing to a membership.
If you’re looking for something new
VYB Yoga, 5009 Country Club Rd. Ever heard of rocket yoga? You’ll find several different approaches at this studio. Most classes are 60 minutes, giving you time to find relaxation, recenter your focus in grounding postures, or your increase strength and endurance. Sound bath meditation is also offered to enhance well-being and reduce stress.

Family Services in Forsyth County will soon have a new acting chief executive. President and Chief Executive Traci Ross announced her resignation effective Jan. 31. Sheila McClelland, the current vice president of finance and administration, will step into the role until a permanent leader is found. (Winston-Salem Journal)

A new sculpturehasbloomed at the entrance of the Williams Adult Day Center at the Generations Center. Local artists Duncan Lewis and Derrick Monk crafted the 16-ft sculpture from brass and steel to depict three figures. Use our mural guide to check out more artwork around town.
Older Adults
Give older adults the gift of independence by providing household items they need during Senior Services’ Remember in December holiday drive. Drop off donations and monetary gifts at Senior Services weekdays between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. or at any Piedmont Federal Bank in Forsyth County.

The Moravian star is Winston-Salem’s official street decoration. It most commonly has 26 points, all of equal length. People of the Moravian faith hang the star when Advent starts, four Sundays before Christmas, and keep them up through epiphany on Jan. 6. (WXII 12 News)
