Whether you’re a novice on the mat or an experienced yogi, the City of Arts and Innovation has plenty of places to practice. Find your zen at these 12 yoga studios and classes around Winston-Salem.

If you’re just getting started

Synergy, 905 S. Broad St., Unit 113
The gym offers 45- or 60-minute vinyasa yoga classes to all levels of practitioners, plus kids yoga on Tuesdays at 4 p.m. Each instructor brings a unique style and playlist. Purchase a drop-in pass in advance for $20 before committing to a membership.

Yoga Path, 120 S. Main St., Ste. B, Kernersville
With a focus on helping adults stay active as they age, instructors teach classes like chair yoga, balance, and slow flow. The “men on mats” class on Tuesdays at 11 a.m. give men a comfortable place to increase their skills. Book a free consultation to determine which classes will best suit your needs.

Lewisville Wellness Collective, 6275 Shallowford Rd., Ste. 200, Lewisville
Try the yoga for beginners class if you’re looking to build a strong foundation. Runners, cyclists, and people recovering from injuries can also find specialized classes aimed at promoting circulation, relieving tension, and healing muscles. The studio is launching yoga memberships in early 2025.

If you want to connect with community

Wildlight Wellness Collective, 612 Trade St. NW
Practice connecting your mind and body in more than a dozen classes, each designed with a unique purpose. The studio in the heart of the downtown Arts District also offers yoga teacher training if you’re interested in sharing the practice with others. Try the donation-based community yoga class if you’re new or prefer a more gentle approach.

This mobile studio brings the yoga to you at various spots around the city. Instructors welcome beginners to places like Radar Brewing and Foothills Brewing Tasting Room for a class, community, and a drink — just show up with $12. You can also book a private lesson or keep an eye out for pop-ups.

If you’re looking to sweat

Aware Hot Yoga, 139 W. 9th St.
The Triad’s only full-service hot studio provides everything you need for a good sweat sesh. The room is heated to 105° for yoga classes and can hold up to 45 people during a class. If you’re new to hot yoga, the hot vinyasa express or hot 26 class is a good place to start.

YogaCentrix, 6790 Shallowford Rd., Lewisville
Work on your range of motion, posture, or strength and balance in a variety of classes offered six days a week (the studio is closed Fridays). You can drop in anytime for $15, or members get access to the studio’s app so you can practice wherever you are.

If you want a mix of fitness options

Lotus Yoga Academy, 525 Vine St., Ste. 215
This studio is perfect for practitioners looking to deepen their knowledge of yoga’s benefits — and themselves. Every class includes sun salutations, standing postures, balance, heart awakening, strength drills, and savasana. Classes are sometimes held outdoors on the studio’s patio, weather permitting.

Try something new on the yoga wall, which uses suspension and gravity to help you increase flexibility. Or, try chair yoga to learn poses in a safe position. Private classes and one-on-one yoga therapy sessions are also available.

If you’re looking for something new

Ever heard of rocket yoga? You’ll find several different approaches at this studio. Most classes are 60 minutes, giving you time to find relaxation, recenter your focus in grounding postures, or your increase strength and endurance. Sound bath meditation is also offered to enhance well-being and reduce stress.

Find a different kind of flow during a hip hop yoga class designed to empower women and promote body positivity. The studio is primarily virtual but does offer in-person classes every Sunday at 2 p.m.

Art + Yoga, 114 W. 30th St. (at the Gallery Theater inside the Generations Center)
This monthly class through Sawtooth School for Visual Art will get you moving with mindful poses. Then, stick around to connect to your creativity in an art class. You’ll want to bring a yoga mat and register for the class prior to showing up. The cost is $25.
