It’s National Library Week. Keep reading to learn how to take advantage of free learning opportunities within the 10-branch Forsyth County Public Library (FCPL) system.

Get your card + create your own

Your library card is your ticket to everything the library system has to offer. Cards are free for Forsyth County residents, property owners, employees, educators, and students. FCPL is accepting submissions for the 2025 Adult Library Card Design Contest through Friday, June 6. Your design could be the face of the new library card distributed to thousands of Forsyth County residents. Fill out an entry form to enter the contest.

Much more than books

The library system is your window to more than just the literary world. There are book clubs, storytimes, cooking classes, Tai Chi, and many other events.

The Lofts at Whitaker Park celebrated its grand opening Tuesday at 3531 Tire Town Rd. Located less than 10 minutes from downtown Winston-Salem, the new apartment complex features a modern and industrial feel with various floor plans + amenities, including a rooftop clubhouse, a bowling alley, and a saltwater pool.

This pop-up cafe serves a latte of fun drinks you won’t want to pass up on. Magnolia’s Cafe truck is now open and will operate throughout the Triad area. Menu items include espresso lattes, tea lattes, refreshers, freshly squeezed lemonades, and $1 churros.

Make your mark during Community Paint Day on Sunday, April 13. Sign up to volunteer and help artists create art that reflects the voices and people in our community. Watch out for closed roads and detours if you’re planning to take these routes.
