This “little theater” is not so little anymore. In part of its 90-year celebration, The Little Theatre of Winston-Salem is expanding to greater grounds. The theater company purchased its first building at 4015 Brownsboro Rd., near North Cherry Street downtown. This project comes as Little Theater launches its $300,000 capital campaign, “Building Our Future: 90 Years in the Making.”
What will be new?
70-seat performance space
Additional administrative space
Increased number of programs year-round
Classrooms + larger rehearsal rooms for youth and adult theater education
“This new space is a dream come true for our staff, students, and artists,” said Joelle Irons, Executive Director of The Little Theatre. “It gives us the flexibility to offer more classes, provide rehearsal space tailored to our performers’ needs, and further invest in the next generation of storytellers.”
As you have noticed, our events section looks a little different — what types of events do you like to see?
A. Live music + concerts B. Workshops and seminars (networking, biz events, etc.) C. Cultural and art events (theater, art exhibit, etc.) D. Sporting events

$80 million. That’s how much tax-exempt bonds Winston-Salem City Council approved for Provident, a nonprofit organization that’ll be part of The Grounds. This approval comes at no cost or debt to the city, the representative for the nonprofit said. Provident plans to support ~300 employees from Wake Forest University.

If parking downtown stresses you out, consider this. The city is seeking the public’s opinion on the transit system to create more job opportunities + offer an easier way for visitors to navigate around downtown. Take the online survey to share your take.
Civic
Don’t pass up on this opportunity for your building/neighborhood to get recognized. The Historic Recognition Committee is accepting applications for the Historic Marker Program. Applications are due annually by Friday, Oct. 31.

We got a little too excited about UNCSA’s $5.3 million library donation. No renovations are happening at the library. Solely, the renaming will be done by fall 2026, which will become The Joy and Michael Rave Library and Learning Commons.
They say don’t judge a book by its cover — but North Main Street has literally been keeping things under wraps. Spoiler alert: there’s a plot twist happening right beneath the surface. Cue the Belgian blocks, which have been uncovered as crews are repaving the roads for a new pavement as part of the two-way street conversion downtown.
These blocks have been resurfaced to sustain the modern traffic influx, but there are plenty of spots to see these Belgian blocks.

I’ve been to Texas twice, but never had the chance to stop by a Whataburger. Some say it’s overrated, while others are die-hard fans. Nonetheless, I’m excited to see what the hype is about this Texas favorite. One of our followers even suggested Texas transplants meet up at the fast food chain on opening day. I think that would be quite a celebration. Let me know which menu item I should order during my first visit.
