This “little theater” is not so little anymore. In part of its 90-year celebration, The Little Theatre of Winston-Salem is expanding to greater grounds. The theater company purchased its first building at 4015 Brownsboro Rd., near North Cherry Street. This project comes as Little Theater launches its $300,000 capital campaign, “Building Our Future: 90 Years in the Making.”

What will be new?

  • 70-seat performance space
  • Additional administrative space
  • More community programs year-round
  • Classrooms + larger rehearsal rooms for youth and adult theater education

“This new space is a dream come true for our staff, students, and artists,” said Joelle Irons, Executive Director of The Little Theatre. “It gives us the flexibility to offer more classes, provide rehearsal space tailored to our performers’ needs, and further invest in the next generation of storytellers.”

In addition, the announcement has gathered lots of community excitement. President of the Board of Directors, Kathy Cissna, says the new space will be a place where new ideas are born and where connections will grow. “We’re not just expanding a theatre company — we’re investing in the heart of our community,” Cissna said.

We’ll keep you posted on the opening timeline of the new space. In the meantime, the Mainstage productions will continue to operate at the Milton Rhodes Center for the Arts.
