Did you know the Carolina Classic Fair started long before the town of Winston and Salem merged in 1913? The fair has undergone many name changes and started attracting a lot of tourists and locals for a grand ‘ole time. Fun fact: Families traveled by wagons, buggies, bicycles, horseback, and some even walked to get to the fair.
Here are our top three picks for the fair this season:
Monster Trucks are a crowd-pleaser and go from 7 to 9 p.m. today
Meet “Twiggy the Water Skiing Squirrel” every day (11 a.m., 3 p.m., 6 p.m., and 8 p.m.)
New this year: Enjoy ice skating daily (there’ll also be ice skating lessons — bring $5 to rent the skates)
Check out operating hours and safety measures (clear bag policy) before heading to the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds. Of course, there are plenty of food options to explore.
