December is full of celebrations. Whether it’s for Hanukkah, Yule, Christmas, Kwanzaa, or New Year’s Eve, there’s a good chance you’re celebrating this month.

Before you ditch the decor, we’ve got to ask — do you know the dos and don’ts of recycling in Winston-Salem? Here’s a refresher.

Do recycle

After a quick clean, these materials are ready for recycling:
  • Aluminum cans
  • Flattened cardboard boxes
  • Glass bottles and jars (without lids on)
  • Newspapers, magazines, and catalogs, and office papers
  • Washed and empty plastic containers
  • Bottles without any residue

Don’t recycle

Here’s what can’t go in your recycling bins:
  • Toys + electronics
  • To-go containers, plastic bags/ wraps, and shredded paper
  • Metallic or glittery materials like trimmings, wrapping paper, ribbons, and bows
  • Bubble wrap and plastic film
  • Styrofoam
  • Electronics and holiday lights

The Wrap

Today’s edition by: Kellina

If you’ve been wondering what your this editor did over the holidays (aside from lots of eating and wholesome moments with family and friends), I attended “A Christmas Carol” drone light show at Truist Stadium, which was magical. I spoke with Kevin Satornino, a sponsor of the event, who said the team is looking to partner with the Dash to host more drone shows throughout the year, so the next one could come sooner than Christmas.
