Now more than ever, data shows that consumers are experimenting with what it means to be “sober curious.” The result has been a spike in sales of non-alcoholic beverages and a declining interest in alcoholic drinks.

Here are some local spots to enjoy a mocktail in Winston-Salem:
  • Joyner’s Bar | The “lychee coconut mule” combines lychee coconut syrup, lime juice, and ginger beer.
  • Jeffrey Adams on Fourth | “Royal Berry Tart” combines pama, fresh lemon juice, and simple syrup.
  • Dram & Draught | “Valli Girl” combines sherry spiced orgeat, lemon, orange classic, and juicy tart. Pro tip: Get $3 off spirit-free cocktails all month long.
  • Quanto Basta | Sparkling lemonade combines fresh fruit puree, lemon, and soda. Pro tip: Choose between blackberry, raspberry, mango, or strawberry flavors.

Announced

Goal scored. Winston-Salem will be the home base for the German Men’s National Team during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The team will use Wake Forest University Spry soccer stadium for soccer practice and stay at The Graylyn Estate. This major win for the Twin City places Winston-Salem on the map.

Mansion Monday

Renovated in 2025, this home was built by local award-winning builder, Trent Adams. Nothing feels more mature than the smell of fresh paint, refinished hardwood floors, and new carpet. If you’re not sold on it yet, maybe the walk-in pantry with an icemaker will seal the deal for you.

Ranked

When North Carolinians hit the drive-thru, one chain reigns supreme. New data from Visual Capitalist shows Bojangles is the most popular fast food restaurant in the state. We can’t say we’re surprised, though these local lunch deals may make you rethink your typical order.

Read

Reading is on the rise, with online searches for “good books” recently hitting an all-time high. If you’re trying to turn more pages in 2026, read some classic literature, or find out what this fictional hockey romance thing is all about, Winston-Salem’s cozy bookstores are the perfect places to start.

Sports

The first round of the NFL playoffs took place over the weekend, with six Wild Card games. Whoever you’re rooting for, the Twin City’s sports bars are the best places to soak in the atmosphere and see who makes it one step closer to Super Bowl LX.

Plan Ahead

Did you know that NASCAR’s most popular driver, Chase Elliott, is coming to Winston-Salem this month? If you answered “no,” we’ve got an exciting resource for you — our monthly Plan Ahead, a list of some of the biggest events to plan for each month. You’ll never be out of the loop again.

Jobs

Kick off 2026 by growing your team the smart way. Whether you’re a small business ready to expand or a large company filling a critical role, our Job Board connects you with engaged, qualified local talent ready to work. Post your open roles for free and start the new year with strong applications rolling in.

The Buy

Our favorite car accessory: a portable air pump and power bank. Never worry about low tire pressure again with this lightweight device that inflates tires while providing a real-time pressure display. Plus, it features a flashlight + flashing SOS mode for added peace of mind during a breakdown or emergency.

The Wrap

If you prefer to mix mocktails at home, easytalk hosts Sunday cocktail classes where you can learn the craft — including non-alcoholic substitutes. Their workshop schedule will be posted once the spot reopens on Wednesday, Jan. 14.
