Enchanted Cottage, Lewisville | The shop hosts crafting workshops to create seasonal greeting cards and other scrapbooking projects.

Village Fabric Shop | Sign up for embroidery, sewing, and quilting classes or stop by to pick fabric and patterns to start on your own project. Pro tip: Classes fill up fast; book your class in advance.

The Craftin’ Loft (inside Hanes Mall) | Stop by for Craft Sunday every week from 2 to 4 p.m. and make floral canvases, pastel arts, and other craft projects.

Art SHAC | This spot features gently used art supplies from local creators. Sign up for art classes using recycled materials to make items like junk journals, collage boards, or join the monthly craft circle.

Announced

Winston-Salem’s first-ever pet mayor was sworn into office after weeks of an election campaign. The golden retriever, Winston, will now serve as a community ambassador throughout the year and will make special appearances, supporting Forsyth Humane Society’s mission.

Cause

Tee up for a day of golfing while supporting the Jim Shaw ACE Academy during its charity golf tournament on Friday, May 8, at the Winston Lake Golf Course. Registration costs $140+, and proceeds will go toward student scholarships.

Mission Mobile Medical Group founder Amanda LeFever was recognized for her efforts in expanding access to healthcare in rural areas.

Last week, we asked what the daily gallon capacity of the largest water treatment plant in Forsyth County is, and 48% said 48 million — which is correct. The Neilson Water Treatment Plant was first created in 1964 and went through a major project in 2021.
