Although classroom days may be long gone for some of us, the thrill of learning never gets old. We’re giving you the scoop on personal enrichment courses in the Twin City that’ll spark your creativity and keep your mind sharp this summer.

Back to the classroom

Wake Forest University
Summer registration for Lifelong Learning classes is open, ranging from Greek mythology to the science of the supernatural. These courses are taught by faculty and community experts, once a week on campus for two hours. Cost is $180 per class.

Old Salem (MESDA)
Celebrate America’s 250th birthday with “Spot Talks” featuring historians exploring US history on Fridays. The next talk will look at the lives of women in the early South. Entry is included with the admission ticket of Old Salem/MESDA.

NCMA, Winston-Salem
Turn the Twin City into your classroom with NCMA Field Trips. Explore places that shape arts and culture in the Triad and learn how they connect to local history. Pro tip: Register early as spaces fill up quickly. Admission is free, but donations are encouraged.

The Triad’s first Potbelly location is now open at the Burke Mill Village shopping center. The Chicago-based sandwich franchise is operated by a local couple who signed the six-unit deal with the brand. (Triad Business Journal)

Mr. Poke is coming to Kernersville, serving Hawaiian-inspired bowls. Locals shared it may be located in the former space of Subway at 507 Nelson St. We’ll keep you posted on an opening date.
