Whenever we’re feeling saucy, we like to slice into some local pizza. Winston-Salem’s pizza scene is bubbling with options, and we keep finding ways to top ourselves. If you’re on the quest for the perfect slice, we’ve pie-oneered a list of 10+ places to grab pizza that are definitely worth the dough.

Italian origins

BLL Rotisserie Factory, 380 Knollwood St., Ste. A
The Italian restaurant serves a pie topped with its signature rotisserie chicken, along with plenty of other options. On Mondays and Saturdays, get a 16-inch pizza with one topping for just $10.

Elizabeth’s Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria, 2824 University Pkwy.
Grab a slice of NY-style cheese or order a whole pizza. If you’re a cheese lover, opt for the Sicilian Elizabeth’s special or the Sicilian veggie, which come with extra cheese. Try a pizza and wing combo if you’re feeding a hungry group.

Elizabeth’s Pizza Italian Restaurant, 3278 Silas Creek Pkwy.
Choose from NY-style pizza or Sicilian styles. The stuffed specialty pizza comes with steak, pepperoni, Italian sausage, and bacon — or choose something a little lighter with the real Italian pizza, which doesn’t have sauce, cheese, or meat.

Cheesy classics

Brothers Pizzeria, 214 W. 4th St.
This downtown spot serves all the classics, as well as stuffed and specialty pizzas. Choose delivery or carry your box out to enjoy at Merschel Park or at home — the shop is open until 2:30 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

Pizza Greco, 5089 Country Club Rd.
This perfect takeout spot keeps things simple. Choose from a slice or a whole pie of NY-style pizza, or opt for a 16-inch Sicilian style pizza. Gluten-free options are also available.

Two slices and a drink are just $9 on Mondays at The Pizza Place.

The Pizza Place, 1155 Silas Creek Pkwy.
This woman-owned shop serves NY-style thin-crust pizza. Several options, like the chicken Caesar and the chicken bacon ranch pizzas, don’t include red sauce.

Hand-tossed heroes

Burke Street Pizza, 1110 Burke St. + 3352 Robinhood Rd.
The shop uses Grande cheese on all of their hand-tossed thin crust pizzas. The Burke Street location is open until 10 (Monday through Thursday) and 11 p.m. (Friday and Saturday) to serve you some cheesy delicacies that will satisfy your late night cravings.

Sixty Six Grill and Tap House, 3440 Frontis St. + 930 Highway 66 S., Kernersville
The restaurant’s hand-tossed pizzas keep customers coming back. Choose between a specialty pizza like the meat lovers or the fiery Hawaiian, or make your own from a list of two dozen ingredients.

Authentic experiences

Cugino Forno, 486 N. Patterson Ave., Ste. 115 + 6316 Clemmons Point Dr., Clemmons
Many of these Neapolitan pizzas have fresh basil and vegetables, making it the perfect pie to share in Bailey Park or outside in the Coal Pit at the Winston-Salem location. If you want to make memories while learning how to make a better pizza, book a pizza-making class.

Mission Pizza Napoletana, 707 Trade St. NW
The restaurant has been nominated for a James Beard award and has landed on the list of the top 50 pizzerias in the US for four consecutive years. The restaurant discourages to-go orders but reservations to dine in are recommended.

Something a little different

The Loop Restaurant, 320 S. Stratford Rd.
The restaurant is the perfect place for a pit stop while shopping at Thruway. Choose from a pizza or a pinsa (a smaller, crispy flatbread that serves 1-3 people) that’s on the menu, or make your own with ingredients like sun-dried tomato, broccoli, and bacon.

Spaghetti Park, 3549 Gentry Circle, Clemmons
The fast casual restaurant also serves pastas, sandwiches, and small plates, but its stone-baked Sicilian pizzetta is what reader Lisa L. tells us is simply “the best.” You can build your own or try one with toppings like balsamic chicken, broccolini, or peppadew peppers. Vegan cheese and cauliflower crust are also available.

We know, this is just a piece of the pie. If your favorite place to get pizza wasn’t mentioned, let us know so we can show it some love in the future.
