Imagine a career fair that feels less like a grueling job hunt and more like a community festival.

That’s Greater Winston Salem Inc.'s grand goal with World of Work, a student field trip and community career fair featuring 60+ local businesses, taking over the LJVM Coliseum on Wednesday, Oct. 22.

Six worlds, endless possibilities

From 2-4:30 p.m., the community is invited to explore six different “worlds” representing major industries based in Forsyth County, including local employers from:

  • Aviation and Aerospace
  • Advanced manufacturing
  • Business services
  • Construction
  • Healthcare + Life sciences
  • Technology and more

Bridging classrooms and careers

More than 2,500 10th-grade students from across the county will also experience the World of Work firsthand, applying career-readiness lessons they’ve learned in the classroom to real-world networking opportunities.

From 9:45 a.m. to 1 p.m., students will have the chance to explore interactive career booths, connect with local bizzes, and learn more about career paths that interest them.

Let’s get down to business

Any local business interested in participating can register online with Greater Winston-Salem Inc. or reach out about sponsorship opportunities. Businesses are encouraged to make their booths as interactive as possible for students, and participate in a networking breakfast starting at 8:30 a.m.

World of Work is part of Forsyth Works, the platform that serves as a one-stop shop for career exploration, hiring, development, and connection in Forsyth County — benefiting both job seekers and employers.
