NC’s second largest agricultural fair, the Carolina Classic Fair, is getting the party started early. Judges are accepting entries for a variety of competitive exhibits like apple decorating, cookie and cake baking, collections, Legos, and more.

Three new contests to watch out for

  • A lucky winner could earn $2,000 in prize money for the largest pumpkins and watermelons.
  • Participants can submit their design for “Decorated Wreath Contest” with the theme “America” which should incorporate red, white, and blue.
  • Participants can make caps for the “Caps for Cancer” contest. The material should be soft, stretchy, and comfortable. Entries will be donated to cancer patients at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Whether you’ve got a competitive spirit or just appreciate a craft, there’s a competition for everyone. Submit your entry by Sunday, Sept. 1 to enter this year’s contest. The fair will take place at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds Friday, Oct. 4 through Sunday, Oct. 13.
