Although we’re less than a month into 2025, we’ve already seen some major announcements like Whataburger choosing its first Twin City location, Novant Health opening its South Tower at Forsyth Medical Center, and Team Winston-Salem making their big debut.

If you’re wondering what else is in store this year, here are 10 big projects to watch out for in 2025.

Crossnore Community Charter School | The campus will open for students in K-4th grade and will be based on a lottery system — the campus is slated to open in August.

Highland Avenue Park | Thanks to a $1.6 million grant awarded to Forsyth County, this new green space will become another gathering place for residents to enjoy more time outdoors.

Shotgun House Heritage Site | Visitors will be able to tour this cultural gem and see exhibits about Black Winstonians. The final phase of this project is expected to be complete some time this year.
Here we grow again

What to expect from the economy in 2025

The new year is looking bright — and so is the 2025 economy. According to PNC Chief Economist Gus Faucher, the US economy is in good shape, thanks to four primary drivers:
  1. Low unemployment
  2. Solid job gains
  3. Good wage growth
  4. Rising household wealth
Consider this: More jobs and rising wages often result in higher incomes and increased household spending. And since consumer spending makes up approximately two-thirds of the US economy, it’s reasonable to expect that the broader economy will expand too.

Other factors that support the health of the economy and quality of life include:
  • Slowing inflation
  • Continued strength in biz investment (think: equipment, workplaces, and technology for workers)
  • Falling interest rates and lower mortgage rates
Pro tip: PNC’s economic insights are updated throughout the year, so be sure to check back in.
