Curious who to report to for city services? From civic happenings to recreational programs, we’ve compiled a handy guide to the city departments and resources residents can access.

But before you go, here’s your opportunity to get involved. The City of Winston-Salem University is accepting applications for its annual 12-week course to help residents learn how the city government and various departments work. The class will meet on Thursdays from 6 to 9 p.m. at City Hall and other locations. Fill out your application by Friday, July 11 to be considered.

How do I prepare for a disaster?

What day does my trash get picked up?

Announced

A high-fuel-efficient California company, JetZero, selected PTI Airport as its manufacturing site with a projected investment of $4.7 billion. This groundbreaking project will create 14,000+ jobs in the Piedmont Triad region by 2036. (WFMY News 2)

Development

The Salem Bottleworks project is shaping up. Bobby Boy Bakeshop owner plans to add two new restaurants — Grandpa John’s Pizzeria is expected to open in July, serving pizza, salads, and gelatos. The second ramen restaurant does not yet have an opening date — we’ll keep you posted. (Triad Business Journal)

Iconic Winstonian Ben Folds will return to the Twin City to perform at his high school alma mater. Folds will perform piano and vocals along with the Winston-Salem Symphony on Saturday, October 11, at the Reynolds Auditorium. Tickets cost $57+.
