Summer is here, and if you’re a fan of the outdoors, this guide is for you. With warmer temps, we’re planning to get outside as much as possible.
In fact, we’ve made an itinerary for spending an entire day outdoors, exploring the city you know and love.
It’s time to refuel. Here are some lunch options with outdoor patios. The Porch Kitchen & Cantina | This Tex-Mex spot will make you feel right at home with its friendly atmosphere and tasty tacos.
House Hangs | 5-8 p.m. | NCMA, Winston-Salem | Free | Hang out on a scenic terrace and enjoy dinner from WutYaSay, dessert by Nougat Desserts + non-alcoholic beverages by Cordial Cowboy.

Bob’s Discount Furniture is set to open at Hanes Mall on Thursday, July 17. Get an autograph from race car driver Denny Hamlin after the race car unveiling at 1 p.m. There’ll be family-friendly activities starting at 10 a.m. at the new location at 1020 Hanes Mall Blvd.

What do Milkweed plants and hydrangea have in common? These flowers are blooming in our region. Pro tip: see how many you can spot in your neighborhood or stop by The Forsyth County Demonstration Gardens (1450 Fairchild Rd.) which is open to visitors all year-round.

Wanna learn the best tips to blow an audience out of the park? The Little Theatre of WS’s free Auditioning 101 workshop is back. Participants (ages 14+) can audition, ask questions, and get feedback from directors on Saturday, July 12, at 10 a.m. Register and arrive 10 minutes before the event.

Paris in Winston-Salem? Yes please. French influence is all around the Twin City, including its architecture. Discover evidence of the Beaux Arts architectural style by taking a tour of the Forsyth County Courthouse on Wednesday, July 16 at 6 p.m.
Outdoors
Get a bird’s eye view with Forsyth Audubon during the interactive birding walk tomorrow, June 28 at Gateway Nature Preserve. Participants will explore the newly opened Meadow Hiking Trail from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. All ages and experiences are welcome.
