Summer is here, and if you’re a fan of the outdoors, this guide is for you. With warmer temps, we’re planning to get outside as much as possible.

In fact, we’ve made an itinerary for spending an entire day outdoors, exploring the city you know and love.

Morning

Start your day by heading to one of these local coffee shops with outdoor patios. Bonus points if you choose an option where you can order without stepping inside, like Coffee Park Airstream (drive-thru).

From there, rent an electric bike or Segway via Triad ECO Adventures and glide along Salem Creek Greenway to Quarry Park. Or schedule a tour with Triad Cultural Arts and explore historic markers, homes, and churches that tell the stories of Black Winstonians’ legacy and impact.

Afternoon

It’s time to refuel. Here are some lunch options with outdoor patios.
The Porch Kitchen & Cantina | This Tex-Mex spot will make you feel right at home with its friendly atmosphere and tasty tacos.

Mike’s Vegan Grill | Located in downtown Winston-Salem, this spot is a crowd’s favorite when it comes to vegan eats.

WStoday: People dining at Twisted Pine outdoor patio downtown Winston-Salem

Soak in the sun and great vibes at Twisted Pine’s outdoor patio.

Village Tavern, Reynolda Village | This is a staple you can’t miss. Sit under the shaded area and take in the beauty while enjoying your meal al fresco.

Mozelle’s| Locals and visitors rave about this upscale restaurant with Southern dishes. Pro tip: Give the modern meatloaf and breakfast gnocchi a try.

Why not indulge in a little retail shopping? Venture off to Wood & Thread Boutique on Brookstown Avenue for their summer picks, or stop by Elizabeth’s at Hanes Park in West End for unique gifts to take home. Pro tip: Stop by Cafe Gelato next door for handmade Italian gelatos.

Evening

Grab a drink at one of these bars and breweries with outdoor seating — we can’t say no to a cider at Lesser Known Beer. Non-alcoholic drinks are available at these spots, just ask the bartender to whip up one for you.

End your day with an outdoor summer concert or catch a movie under the stars at Bailey Park.
