Throughout the month of August, the NC Department of Transportation is collecting feedback and recommendations for road construction projects, to help inform its 10-year capital plan for 2026-2035.

A 30-day public comment period is currently running from Aug. 1-31.

Community members may submit comments and suggestions via a short, interactive survey. You can also visit local NCDOT offices during during open hours to submit comments in person.

Pro tip: This comment period is not for maintenance-related projects, such as patching potholes, resurfacing, or ditches. NCDOT uses a different method to prioritize maintenance projects.

State officials are focusing on project priorities on a large-scale such as an interstate improvement or as small as a new turn lane or intersection improvement.

Community members can give their opinion on any type of transportation, including highways, aviation, bicycle & pedestrian, ferry, public transportation and rail.
