While exact weather conditions typically can’t be predicted more than a week in advance, here’s a seasonal outlook to help you prepare for what winter will bring.

Temperature
Think cooler winter. This season, the Twin City has a 40-50% chance of temperatures leaning above normal.
Precipitation
Slightly less precipitation. Winston-Salem has a 33-40% chance of seeing below-normal averages of snow and rainfall amounts this winter.
Drought
Drought conditions are not expected this season.
December
Winston-Salem’s average temperature in December ranges between 33°F and 51°F. Winstonians can expect temperatures to be slightly warmer than usual.
January
Historically, lows in January are 30°F on average, with highs of 49°F. January tends to be Winston-Salem’s coldest month. February
February gets a little warmer in Winston-Salem with an average low temperature of 31°F and an average high of 53°F, so expect to be closer to those highs as spring approaches. Chances of rain slightly decreases this month and you can look forward to more daylight.
