Traveling by plane is fun — jet-setting over beautiful blue waters or rolling hills, taking in cloud formations, and landing in a completely different location in a matter of hours is unlike anything else. The whole navigating the airport part? Leave that up to us.
Located ~30 minutes outside of downtown Winston-Salem, we’ve got everything you need to know about Piedmont Triad International Airport (GSO)— from gates and parking to details on the airport’s 13 nonstop flights — so you can make the most out of your time on your travel day.
What to know
- TSA | Compared to airports in big cities like Raleigh or Charlotte, you can get through security at PTIA in less than 10 minutes during non-peak seasons and 15 to 20 minutes during peak seasons.
- Map it out | If you’re like us and need to completely visualize a place before you step foot inside, these maps of the entire airport will be your saving grace.
- Food and drink | Get a freshly made bagel at the The Great American Bagel & Panini Company and select from hand-packed cream cheese and deli sandwiches. For sports fans, catch the latest game on big screens at the ACC American Café while you wait for your next flight.
- Reminder | Starting May 2025, adult passengers will be required to have a passport or Real ID in order to go through the checkpoints.
- Flight status | While we recommend staying updated via your respective airline, you can also check the airport’s dashboard for your flight status in a pinch.
Parking, shuttles, and rideshare
Not everyone has a bestie who will drop everything to pick them up from their 3 a.m. landing. There is plenty of parking to choose from depending on your needs: premium parking in a deck, central garage parking, and short-term parking. No shuttles are provided from the garage to the terminal, but at least the walk will count toward your daily steps. Here’s how much you can expect to pay for each parking deck:
- Short term parking | $2/hour
- Central garage parking, levels 1-3 | $12/day
- Premium deck parking | $15/day
Because PTI only has one terminal, all of these parking options are within walking distance of TSA and your gate. Pro tip: Have a picture of your vehicle’s license plate to pay at the short-term parking pay station.
Hate the thought of driving yourself? Try out a shuttle, rideshare, or taxi service that will take you to and from the terminal. These services are suggested by the airport:
- Archangels Transit | Taxi and van service | Located lower-level center of the terminal building. They can be reached at (336) 668-9808.
- Piedmont Authority for Regional Transportation (PART) | Shuttle | Route 25 PTI Airport service hours are Monday through Friday, 6:15 a.m. to 8:45 p.m. and on-demand on Saturdays. There are two bus stops located on the arrival level, stop 318 at door one and stop 218 at door seven.
Nonstop flights
PTI Airport offers 13 domestic nonstop flights. Here are six nonstop flights to nearby locations.
