Ways to help Hurricane Helene victims in Winston-Salem

Our neighbors in Western North Carolina need our help. Here are ways you can get involved in relief efforts.

Winston-Salem is stepping up to help our neighbors in Western North Carolina after Hurricane Helene. Here’s how you can help:

Donation drop-off spots

  • Bring pet supplies like food, carriers, leashes, and collars to Primm’s. The boutique will use its storage space to collect emergency supplies through Sunday, Oct. 6.
  • Drop off essential supplies like baby wipes and manual can openers at Fiddle and Fig Market through Saturday, Oct. 5. The store is serving as a collection site for Operation Airdrop, a nonprofit organization airlifting supplies to stranded residents.
  • Drop off food donations at Big Winston Warehouse. The spot on Trade Street is a FEMA food donation center. Personal care items will also be accepted inside Fiddlin’ Fish Brewing and Broad Branch Distillery.
  • Donate bottled water, camp stoves, and other items at Foothills Brewing Tasting Room.
  • Fill up the donation box at Synergy with cleaning supplies, work gloves, and other items through at least Sunday, Oct. 6.
  • Drop off bug spray, plastic utensils, and tools at Joymongers to go toward Operation Airdrop.
  • Bring supplies, especially gallons of water, to fill the truck at Brouwerij DuBois. The next shipment of goods to Fletcher United Methodist Church is happening Saturday, Oct. 5.
  • Put Gatorade, packaged snacks, and peanut butter in the donation box at Hilliard Studio Method.
  • Collect baby bottles, medical supplies, and flashlights and drop them off at Arched Aesthetics through Saturday, Oct. 12.
  • Help ByGood Coffee, Dilisios, Aurora Beauty Salon, RedHot Beauty, and Wood & Thread boutique collect first aid supplies, toilet paper, and other items for distribution through Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC. Drop off is at ByGood Coffee.
  • Drop off essentials like baby formula, washcloths, and disinfectant wipes during the first three days of the Carolina Classic Fair, Friday, Oct. 4-Sunday, Oct. 6. Look for the truck at the main entrance until 8 p.m. The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office will handle collection and distribution.
  • Help the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office collect items to take to Buncombe County through Sunday, Oct. 6 at the Public Safety Center — hours vary.

Other ways to help

  • Order a mountain disaster relief t-shirt for $25 designed by local artists. Pick-up starts Monday, Oct. 7 at Howlin’ at the Moon Bakery. Proceeds benefit the American Red Cross.
  • Order Prayers for Western, NC stickers from Pretty Paper by Veronica for $4 each. Shipping is free and all proceeds will go to Samaritan’s Purse.
  • Get a drink at Chad’s Chai this week — 100% of profits will be donated to the NC Disaster Relief Fund.
  • Donate to The Porch’s team page to support World Central Kitchen, a global organization coordinating meals for communities in crisis.
  • Shop at Southern Home and Kitchen, The Boho Depot, and To Your Health Bakery — 10% of your purchases will benefit various outreach organizations.
  • Work out at F45 Training on Saturday, Oct. 5. The gym will donate 100% of drop-in fees to Samaritan’s Purse.
  • Take part in a 30-minute CycleGives Ride on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 12 p.m. at CycleBar where proceeds will go to organizations assisting families.
  • Shop at Rebecca and Co. through Saturday, Oct. 5 for 25% of sales to be donated to Samaritan’s Purse.
  • Email Forsyth Humane Society to foster an animal rescued from Asheville Humane Society.
  • Dine out to provide meals during a Night out for North Carolina on Tuesday, Oct. 8. West End Cafe, East of Texas, The Porch Kitchen and Cantina, Alma, Slappy’s Chicken, Camino Bakery, and Village Tavern will donate 100% of profits to World Central Kitchen.
  • Drink up at Dive Bar through Monday, Oct. 14. It will donate 100% of proceeds from Dive Beer Lite sales to the Community Foundation of Western NC.
  • Attend a performance at UNC School of the Arts. The university is donating 100% of proceeds from Sept. 26 through Oct. 31 to the Piedmont Triad Chapter of the American Red Cross.
