Winston-Salem pets: Give them a round of a-paws

We asked readers to send in photos of their pets — meet some of the furry residents of Winston-Salem.

A white dog is looking at the camera with its mouth open. The dog is sitting behind the steering wheel of a car.

Mallory | “She is a potato-shaped, thick slice of cheesecake with very particular opinions on where she sleeps.”

This is the moment you’ve all been waiting for. After asking our readers to submit their paw-fect pet photos, we’ve put together our first adorable roundup of Winston-Salem furry friends.

We received nearly 70 photos of our neighborhood cats and dogs (and one chicken entry). Meet a few of the crew.

Put your paws up for...

A dog is lying on a hardwood floor and giving the camera a side eye.

Ernie | “Ernie is almost 13 years old and has lived in 10 apartments or houses. In each one, he has figured out that if he has to go pee but no one is home to take him, he can jump in the tub and pee in there. He was never taught to do this!”

A grey-and-white cat is standing in a planter outdoors. Its face is turned back to stare at the camera.

Hobby | “I found Hobby in a box at Hobby Park when he was 8 weeks old. He has been glued to my side ever since!”

A tiny brown-and-black puppy is sitting on a bed with a pink bow placed near its ear.

Chloe Star Hill | “Spunky Princess 💖"

Two chickens with large feathers around their faces look at the camera. In the background, a rooster is also nearby.

Dolly + Martha | “Polish girls in the twin city. Known for their stylish hair and calm demeanor, they bring quite the flare, and egg production, to our Ardmore home.”

A large blonde dog is lying on the floor wearing a harness with a baseball cap placed atop its head.

Boots | “Boots is a devoted double Goldendoodle with a heart of gold — working tirelessly as our son’s loyal autism service dog, he turns everyday moments into milestones!”

A leopard-print cat is pictured in front of a small window wearing a red plaid outfit.

Athena-Grace | “Athena loves to go with me on all adventures. From Florida to North Carolina. There are not many places Athena has not visited.”

A black and brown patterned greyhound is lying on a dog bed with its face close to the camera. On the dog's paw is a blue cast with pink hearts.

Jax | “Jax is a retired racing greyhound from Ireland. He recently had surgery on his paw and is doing well.”

A fluffy brown dog leans its head against the armrest of a chair. It appears to be trying to keep its eyes open.

Rocky | “Part dog, part cat, part sloth…"

A brown dog with a blue collar is tilting its head to lick whipped cream out of a cup.

Willow | “Loves pupcups!”
