#GivingTuesday is a global movement to encourage acts of kindness that make our communities stronger. If you’re looking for a place to give this year, here are eight organizations you can donate to:

  • SECU Family House | Your gift will help provide lodging and support for adult patients and their families. Each donation is matched and doubled.
  • Crossby Scholars Community Partnership | Your dollar will go toward providing college access and readiness programs for first-generation and underrepresented students in Forsyth County.
  • Second Harvest Food Bank Northwest NC | Each gift will be matched dollar for dollar and will go toward providing food for underserved neighbors.
  • H.O.P.E. of Winston-Salem | Donations go toward fresh fruits and vegetables for families struggling with food insecurity.
  • Family Services | When you give, you help strengthen and restore families through counseling services, private childcare, and parenting courses for families experiencing domestic issues.
  • City with Dwellings | Gifts go toward providing housing assistance, advocacy, and access to resources for people who are experiencing homelessness.
  • Triad Restorative Justice | Each contribution equips the organization, which provides programs for conflict resolution for at-risk teenagers.
  • The Shalom Project | From weekly meals to medical costs covered, your dollar will help assist those in underserved communities.

While you’re in the giving spirit, here are some tips on giving from Central Carolina Community Foundation:

  • Plan ahead | Budget how much money you’d like to give. Any amount can make a difference.
  • Do your research | Donate to a cause you care about by using the search tools listed above.
  • Keep good records | If you’re deducting your donations, the IRS requires a tax-deductible receipt for gifts over $250 issued by the organization.
  • Think outside the box | There are other ways to give besides cash. Consider bequests, gifts-in-kind, securities, trusts, or pledging to volunteer.
  • Give local | There’s no better way to spread the love than by gifting your time + money back into the community.
