It’s the most brew-tiful time of the year: Oktoberfest.

This folk festival originated in Munich, Germany in 1810 to celebrate the marriage of Bavarian Crown Prince Louis to Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen. The tradition has continued to grow into the world’s largest Volkfest — read: people festival — filled with beer, traditional Bavarian music, performances, parades, and German outfits.

Incendiary Brewing Company | Saturday, Sept. 16 | Coalpit Live, 486 N. Patterson Ave., Winston-Salem| 12-5 p.m.| Free entry | Enjoy German style beers, get your annual stein + witness a tribute to Guns N’ Roses.

Wise Man Brewing | Saturday, Sept. 16 | 826 Angelos Bros. Ave., Winston-Salem | 1-4 p.m. | Free entry | Enjoy German-inspired dishes from food trucks + live music and contests. Can’t get enough? Come back Sunday, and play with baby goats from 2-5 p.m. Farm fresh products will also be available.

Joymongers Brewing | Saturday, Sept. 16 | 480 W. End Blvd., Winston-Salem | 4-11 p.m.| Free entry | Start with the steinholding contest, then enjoy sweet treats + food trucks and end with live music.

Fiddling Fish Brewing Company | Saturday, Sept. 16 | 480 W. End Blvd., Winston-Salem | 4-11 p.m. | Free entry | Take part of their first stein hoisting competition and enjoy a Bavarian-themed menu.

ROAR Oktoberfest 2023 | Saturday, Sept. 30-Oct. | 633 N. Liberty St., Winston-Salem 1 | 12-5 p.m. | $40 | Take home a beer stein souvenir, enjoy cocktail service, take part in the pretzel eating competition, and more.
