Spruce up your daily routine with a pep of wine and food. As part of Small Business Week, we are highlighting a small, but mighty wine bar located on Trade Street. Little Pep opened in 2024 to serve as a space for locals and visitors to wine and unwind in a relaxed atmosphere.

City Editor Kellina reached out to the owners, Anna Impson and Rebekah Rhoden, to learn more about the passion behind their business.

Why did you decide to open Little Pep?

We both come from the creative agency world and had been working from home for the past four years. Knowing this wasn’t something we wanted to do for long, we started thinking about what we wanted to see in Winston-Salem. Instead of just talking about what we wanted, we decided to make it.

What makes it special?

We were used to making brands special for other people, and Little Pep allowed us to make something special for ourselves. I think we’ve created something that’s pretty cool, but also not serious at all. The people who make the wine are so serious about their craft, but enjoying it should be fun. We’re all just here for a good time, and I think that shows.

What your favorite part about having a business?

Seeing people enjoy this thing we’ve made is really special and fulfilling.

You can also get small bites while you sip your drink at Little Pep.

What’s one advice you would give to another business owner?

I think in Winston people feel like they can’t be niche. Be niche. We don’t need to serve liquor because we wouldn’t be good at that and other people in town do it so well. Do the thing you’re good at, and stay focused. You don’t have to be everything to everyone.

You can be part of the Pep Squad by signing up for a wine club membership, which gives you perks like first dibs on tastings, free merch, and a discount on wine selections. The business also offers off-site services, so you can book them for a pop-up at your special event.
