About two-thirds of women with breast cancer in the US receive a diagnosis at an early stage. Here’s how you can join the fight against the disease this month:

  • Cornhole Tournament to help “toss out breast cancer” | Thursday, Oct. 12 | 4-7 p.m. | 2901 Maplewood Ave., Winston-Salem | $50-$250 | All proceeds go to the Novant Health Foundation to provide mammograms for local women
  • A Walk In The Park | Saturday, Oct. 21 | 8 a.m-2 p.m.| 370 Oak Summit Rd., Winston-Salem | $28 | Lace up your sneakers and join the fight against breast cancer during the walk. Proceeds will go toward research, awareness, and breast cancer patients.
  • All Mounds Matter 5K Run/Walk | Sunday Oct. 29 | 9 a.m.-3 p.m. | 245 N. Main St., Kernersville| $40.00 | The race will support the Cancer Services of Winston-Salem. Women aged 40 and plus can schedule their mobile mammogram on site. Price increases after Oct. 13.
  • Hit the Bricks” | Thursday, Oct. 5. | 11 a.m.-7 p.m. | Hearn Plaza, 1830 Wake Forest Rd., Winston-Salem | Free entry | Wake Forest University students, faculty, staff, and friends will run laps during the 8-hour relay race to raise money for the Brian Piccolo Cancer Research Fund. University police will wear pink ribbons all month. A portion of the funds raised will go toward the Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist survivorship clinic which also serves breast cancer survivors.
