Wake Forest baseball No. 1 seed in the NCAA Men’s College World Series

The Demon Deacons are playing in their first College World Series since 1955.

The Wake Forest baseball team is up to bat in the Men’s College World Series for the first time since their 1955 championship win — and as the No. 1 seed, the Demon Deacons are favored to win again.

Here’s everything you need to know to root, root, root for the home team.

Since 2010, Tom Walter has led the Deacons program as head coach, guiding the team multiple times to the NCAA Regional and Super Regional (in 2016, 2017, and 2022) + the ACC Tournament (in 2021). In addition to winning more than 800 games throughout his coaching career, Walter donated a kidney to Wake Forest outfielder Kevin Jordan in 2011. And in May, he was named ACC Coach of the Year for 2023.

Following a highly successful season — winning 51-22 overall and 22-7 in the ACC — Wake Forest clinched their spot in the Series with a record nine home runs over Alabama. After winning double elimination in their first matchups against Stanford and LSU, the Demon Deacons will play LSU again in the semifinals on Wed., June 21 at 7 p.m. You can watch or stream live on ESPN, plus browse merch to support the Deacs here.
