Historic landmark turns into an upscale wedding venue

The Crest will be a one-stop shop for those looking to tie the knot at a unique wedding venue.

One historic home located in downtown Winston-Salem will now be a space for newlyweds to say their “I do’s.”

The Crest will give couples a unique experience full of Winston-Salem pride. The historic landmark is located on Cherry Street, overlooking the Green Street pedestrian bridge and some of the Twin City’s most iconic buildings, including the Winston Tower. The Crest House — originally named Rogers House — was built circa 1885 and named after a prominent businessman in the Twin City, James Mitchell Rogers. Rogers owned a hardware company and served as the first president for the Winston-Salem Chamber of Commerce.

The Crest’s Executive Director Austin Hayes said they are partnering with local and regional wedding vendors to give guests and wedding parties special offerings. To support local artists, art pieces from online gallery Shop Artfolio will be hung on the wall of the venue and available for purchase. Hayes said every detail added to the venue is intentional.

“We didn’t want it to just be a generic background,” Hayes said. “We wanted something that has meaning and connection to the city.”

The Carriage House, an outdoor space at the venue, is set to open in the coming months.

The Victorian architecture, with hints of Gothic Revival and Queen Anne styles from the 1800s, is still prevalent in each corner of the building. The man cave features shelved books dedicated to Forsyth County and North Carolina. The second floor is dedicated solely to the bridal party, featuring large windows that give a view of the city and tall ceilings with accents of gold.

The venue has parking for ~40 cars and accommodates up to 150 people. Hayes said they are working on partnering with the city to provide shuttles for wedding guests.

The Crest also features additional outdoor spaces, including The Carriage House, which is set to open in the coming months.

Stay tuned — this venue is expected to open in February.
