Old Homeplace Vineyard, 623 McGee Rd., Winston-Salem

  • The atmosphere: Countryside + traditional. The vineyard is between a 1200-acre lake and 48 acres of land.
  • Why you should go: Listen to local songwriters and artists perform on Reunion Sundays while overlooking the lake.

Medaloni Cellars, 9125 Shallowford Rd., Lewisville

  • The atmosphere: Views of the Blue Ridge Mountains
  • Why you should go: Enjoy multiple signature series wines. Food trucks are on site April through November.

Childress Vineyards, 1000 Childress Vineyards Rd., Lexington, ~30 minutes outside Winston-Salem

  • The atmosphere: Enjoy pond views overlooking 70 acres of land
  • Why you should go: Owned by NASCAR team owner Richard Childress, the vineyard was voted one of the top 100 scenic restaurants in America by The Bistro.

Weathervane Winery, 1452 Welcome Arcadia Rd., Lexington, ~20 minutes outside Winston-Salem

Shelton Vineyards, 286 Cabernet Ln., Dobson, ~ 50 minutes outside Winston-Salem

  • The atmosphere: Think vintage and an upscale bistro atmosphere — featuring rolling hills, rose bushes, and ponds.
  • Why you should go: Located in the Yadkin Valley, the vineyard shares a similar climate as some of the best wine-growing regions in Europe. Although the drive may be long, the views are totally worth the trip.

JOLO Winery and Vineyards, 219 Jolo Winery Ln., Pilot Mountain, ~20 minutes north of Winston-Salem

  • The atmosphere: Breathtaking views of Pilot Mountain and Cox Lake.
  • Why you should go: It was named one of the top seven wineries in the country by Trip Advisor outside of California.

Rayson Winery & Vineyards, 322 Brix Lane
Mocksville, ~20 minutes outside Winston-Salem

  • The atmosphere: Luxury and relaxed, plus enjoy a curated dinner from the Bistro Europa.
  • Where should you go: Experience the perfect escape in NC’s Yadkin Valley wine country. Try This: Flights and Bites every Wednesday, which showcases three rotating dishes + three curated wines that pair well with the selected plate. Reserve your ticket for $49.
